Suspected burglars threw bricks, bottles and a hammer from their car as
they drove away from police following a burglary at a shop in Barnsley.
Police officers were responding to reports of a burglary at the McColl’s
shop on Rotherham Road, Great Houghton at 23:20 on Saturday night.
A silver BMW was seen by officers heading towards Rawmarsh, but despite
help from the police helicopter and a police dog, the four suspects
couldn’t be found.
The car was seized and police found a large quantity of cigarettes and
alcohol in it.
