UCB will open its doors on Wednesday 22 November for an open evening dedicated to art courses. Those interested in attending the open evening will have the opportunity to gain more information about the courses, take part in tasters and find out about current student life at the event, which runs from 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
UCB offers a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art and Higher National Diplomas in Fashion and Textiles, Graphic Design and Photography aimed at those wanting to develop their creative skills and use artistic flair in their chosen career.
Evan Wood, Art, Photography and Fashion Higher Education Curriculum Leader, said: “Our courses will enable you to appreciate the application of your skills in the creative industry.

- wathupondearne Latest news in Yorkshire: Published March 19, 2019 02:31:49 PM Laugh out loud comedy extravaganza features British comedy circuit’s top talent Prepare for a month full of chuckles, giggles and belly laughs – because April Fools Comedy Festival is back in Barnsley next month. The popular comedy extravaganza – which will take place over the course of April – returns to Barnsley town centre for its fourth year, and this year’s show promises to be the most hilarious yet. Headline acts include popular Mock the Week regular Gary Delaney – who brings his show ‘Gagster’s Paradise’ to The Civic on Friday 26 April. Glenn Moore – also a Mock the Week star – will perform at town centre sports bar The Garrison on Wednesday 10 April, while talented comedian Jessica Fostekew will appear at The Old Picture House on Sunday 7 April. Other venues to feature shows include The Electric Theatre, Annie Murray’s Irish Bar, Zinc Bar and Jock’s Cavern. Meanwhile, comedian and Barnsley lad Toby Foster -famous for his BBC Radio Sheffield Breakfast Show and role in award-winning sitcom Phoenix Nights – will host The Last Laugh Comedy Club at The Civic on Saturday 27 April. Other acts scheduled to appear include Carl Hutchinson, Bilal Zafar, Grainne Maguire, Kate Fox, The Noise Next Door, Ben van der Velde, Abigoliah Schumaun, George Egg, Steve Bugeja and Seymour Mace. A Comedy Club 4 Kids will also be held at The Civic on Wednesday 17 April, with The Lamproom Theatre hosting The Odd Couple comedy show over four nights between Tuesday 9 and Saturday April 13. The event will be presented by Love Barnsley Town Centre in association with Barnsley Council and XPO Logistics. - wathupondearne Latest news in Yorkshire: Published March 23, 2019 08:47:49 AM A report which has agreed to allocate £250,000 from the Berneslai Homes surplus to support work on an affordable warmth programme for private sector housing over the next three years has been approved. Launching in March, at least 106 households will benefit from the overall programme, giving an average spend per property of £2,358. External funding of around £575,000 is also expected to be brought in, allowing hundreds more households to benefit. All energy efficiency works will be delivered through the existing Better Homes Barnsley framework and the new Warm Homes and Hospital Discharge team will help to assess need and eligibility for these schemes. The Barnsley energy tariff, the local energy supply offer provided by Great North Energy, will also be available to the residents who benefit from this programme, offering further potential for them to save money and be able to heat their homes to a comfortable level. The programme will be fully evaluated so that further funding can be secured to make it sustainable in the long-term. It will rely on referrals from health professionals and front-line council workers, although residents can self-refer. Councillor Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “There are currently around 11,500 households in fuel poverty in Barnsley and we also have above average rates of excess winter deaths. “This funding will allow the council to take a more holistic approach to tackling cold homes by joining up with other services to provide heating systems and insulation to the most vulnerable residents living in private sector housing.” Paul Hayes, Chair of Berneslai Homes Board, added: “Last year the Berneslai Homes Board agreed to spend some of its company surplus to support projects aimed at economic regeneration and the health and wellbeing of people in Barnsley. This is the first of those projects aimed at reducing fuel poverty. “We want all residents in Barnsley to have a home that is warm and safe to live in.” This news is linked to Town Spirit.
