A 39-year-old man has been convicted of racially abusing a PCSO in
Rotherham and possession of a Class B drug.

Lukasz Jedrzejczak, of Wellgate, Rotherham, appeared at Sheffield
Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 26 February to be sentenced after pleading
guilty to a racially aggravated public order offence and possession of a
Class B drug.

He was sentenced to an eight-week community order, with electronic
tagging and a curfew, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.

On Wednesday 16 January, Jedrzejczak was racially abusive towards a
PCSO, who was conducting routine patrols in Rotherham town centre. The
PCSO noticed Jedrzejczak was incredibly drunk and behaving in an
aggressive manner.

After he was arrested, he was searched and found to be in possession of
white powder.

PC Chris Nicholson, Hate Crime Coordinator for Rotherham, said:
“Jedrzejczak’s behaviour was completely inappropriate and we will not
tolerate racial abuse being directed towards anyone in Rotherham.

“We take reports of hate crime very seriously and wherever possible,
will seek to prosecute individuals where there is evidence to do so.

“I hope the public are encouraged by the swift action taken to address
this issue. People are encouraged to report hate crime by calling 101,
999 in an emergency, online, by calling Crimestoppers or via a third
party reporting centre.”
