A Maltby woman has been ordered to pay £250 after she admitted
fraudulently using her mother’s disabled parking badge.

Sheffield Magistrates heard that Helen Hodson, of Rotherham Road,
Maltby, used her mother’s disabled parking badge to park in a disabled
parking bay in Drummond Street car park in July 2018 when her mother was
not present.

Hodson pleaded guilty by post and was fined £120 with £100 costs and £30
victim surcharge by the court on Tuesday 26 February.

Councillor Denise Lelliott, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs and
the Local Economy said “This is a further example of this extremely
anti-social crime. Using disabled parking spaces in such a manner
deprives genuine people of the opportunity to do so. People also need to
consider whether it is worth risking a criminal record rather than
paying for parking.

“This Council will continue to take such cases very seriously and take
legal action whenever it is in the public interest to do so.”
