Officers have launched an investigation after a man walking his dog in the Bolton-Upon-Dearne area was assaulted by two men, who also reportedly tried to take his dog.
At around 4.45am yesterday morning (Tuesday 14 November), a man was walking along Lowfield Road when he was approached by two men who made attempts to take his dog, a white husky.
During the incident, the man suffered minor injuries, including scratches to his head and bruising.
The two men area described as white, in their early 20s, with one about 6ft tall and the other 5ft 8ins. They are both thought to have brown hair and were wearing tracksuits with snoods around their faces and woolly hats.
Enquiries are now ongoing to identify those involved and anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 80 of 14 November 2017.

He is due to appear in court in Edinburgh later today. Sky News are reporting that proceedings are now live under the Contempt of Court Act. Police did not say what Salmond, who served as first minister from 2007 to 2014, is charged with. Two people have made harassment complaints against the SNP grandee but he denies them and took successful legal action against the Scottish government over their investigation. Earlier this month a court said the government’s decisions were “procedurally unfair and… tainted with apparent bias”. At the time Salmond said he is “not guilty of any criminality whatsoever.” The party leader resigned following the loss of the Scottish independence referendum but represented Gordon in the House of Commons from 2015 to 2017.
