Barnsley Museums welcomes almost 1.2 million visitors

Barnsley Museums celebrated attracting almost 1.2 million visitors in 2016/17. To mark the occasion, the last visitors to arrive on Friday, 31 March were presented with a special gift from Councillor Roy Miller, Cabinet spokesperson for Place, at Worsbrough Mill Country Park.

The family friendly attractions include the Cooper Gallery, Experience Barnsley, Worsbrough Mill and country park, and Cannon Hall, museum park and gardens.

The success of Barnsley Museums continues grows as they attract large number of visitors through an exciting events and exhibition programme, many of which are free of charge. Through engaging with the local residents and those of neighbouring towns and cities they have become an integral part of the local community.

Councillor Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place said:  “Congratulations to Tessa and Steve Cook we hope they enjoy their prize which includes an overnight stay at Holiday Inn, Barnsley, tickets to the April Fools Comedy Festival and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Attracting almost 1.2 million visitors is a huge achievement for Barnsley Museums and is a testament to just how popular and important the venues are to the local community.”
