Police vehicle tyres slashed in Sheffield – Madness!

SY Police in Sheffield are appealing for information about an incident
of criminal damage in Sheffield last night (27 March) in which one of
our response vehicles had its tyre slashed.

Officers had parked the vehicle on Hazlebarrow Road in the Jordanthorpe
area at around 6.07pm whilst they attended an incident. On returning to
the van, they discovered significant damage to the front tyre.

Superintendent Cherie Buttle said: “Our officers are working harder than
ever to carry out their duties and keep the public safe and this is
completely unacceptable behaviour.

“Frontline officers were attending an incident when their vehicle was
targeted by vandals, it meant we had to deploy extra resources which is
unnecessary and a waste of officer time.

“It is reported that two unknown men were in the area on an electric
powered bike at the time, if you know who these men are or have any
information about what happened, please do contact us.

“You can call 101 and quote crime reference number 14/54859/20.”
