Rotherham residents are being asked to give the Council their views on
proposed changes to polling stations in the borough.

Following changes to ward boundaries the Council is reviewing all the
borough’s polling stations to ensure the places where people vote are
convenient and accessible.

Residents can give their views on proposed new polling districts and
polling places. People can also suggest new or alternative polling
places that they feel would improve access to voting in their area.

Cllr Saghir Alam, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Corporate
Services and Finance said: “All local authorities are required to review
their polling districts, polling places and polling stations every five
years, under the Representation of the People Act, and a compulsory
review is now due in Rotherham.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure that we have
a wide range of opinions on proposed polling districts and polling
places – and would also very much welcome suggestions of new or
alternative polling stations.”

The consultation is open until Friday 26 April 2019.

Following the review, a report will go before the Council’s Cabinet for
a decision on any changes.
