Detectives investigating an incident in which a woman was sexually assaulted
in the Rossington area are asking for your help to identify the man
pictured.
At around 12.45am on Saturday 23 June, the victim – a 40-year-old woman –
was walking along Gattison Lane towards West End Lane, when the man
approached her and engaged her in conversation.
The man and the woman were sitting on a wall outside of the Benton House
Nursing Home when he reportedly became aggressive and violent towards her
before sexually assaulting her. He then left the area heading towards West
End Lane before the victim phoned police.
Detective Constable Helaine Hardy, investigating, said: “This was a nasty,
violent attack which has understandably left the woman extremely distressed.
“We are continuing to support her and have worked with her to produce this
e-fit image of a man we want to identify. He is said to be around 5ft 8ins
tall, of a stocky/plump build and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing
metal framed glasses and a red checked long-sleeved shirt.
“Forensic opportunities have been explored and CCTV footage reviewed but we
now need your help to identify the man pictured.
“If you know who he is, or saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at
that time, please call 101 quoting incident number 86 of 23 June 2018.
“You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
