Camping and caravanning at Waleswood
A new state-of-the art caravan and camping site next to Rother Valley
Country Park is set to pitch up this April and is now taking bookings,
ready for the spring school holidays.
Construction of Waleswood Caravan and Camping Park began in July 2018,
and contractors are currently working hard to put the finishing touches
to the site. It will offer 163 pitches, including standard and super
pitches for caravans, as well as grass tent pitches, all with electric
hook-up points.
Visitors can look forward to high levels of convenience and comfort,
including a reception, shop, shower and toilet blocks with family and
accessible facilities, outdoor play areas and a games room. Situated
just three miles from junction 31 of the M1 motorway, the site also has
direct access to Rother Valley Country Park and its amazing attractions.
From sailing, paddle-boarding and water-zorbing to fishing, model boats,
miniature railway, cycling and visiting rare breeds in the petting farm,
guests will be able to pick from the extensive range of outdoor
activities at the park for a truly memorable stay.
A licensed café will also be available on site, and the park’s location
means visitors will have easy access to a wide variety of days out
across Rotherham and the surrounding area, such as Clifton Park and
Museum, the home of The Rotherham Show; Rotherham Theatre; Thrybergh and
Ulley Country Parks; Wentworth Woodhouse; shopping at Meadowhall; and
family favourites at Magna Science Centre and Tropical Butterfly House.
From 2020, guests will also be able to enjoy the brand new Gulliver’s
Valley family attraction which is to open right next to the caravan and
camping park.
Ian Dixon, Rother Valley Country Park Manager, said, “We’ve often been
asked about caravan and camping facilities here at Rother Valley, and
the original plans when the park opened in 1983 included a caravan site,
so we’re really looking forward to welcoming visitors for their stay, as
they explore and enjoy activities at the park and beyond.”
The caravan and camping park is due to open on Friday 12 April 2019 and
