Two men have received jail time for two separate hate crimes in
Rotherham.
Paul Osbourne, 25 of Holme Court in Goldthorpe pleaded guilty to theft
from a shop and a racially aggravated public order offence, which
happened on 18 October in Rotherham.
He was sentenced to 10 weeks imprisonment and ordered to pay £115 to
victim services when his case was heard at Sheffield Magistrates court
on 19 October.
On the same day, Connor Shaw, 26 of Larch Mews in Rotherham, was found
guilty of a racially aggravated public order offence, assault on a PC,
and theft along with fail to appear for court. He was sentenced to a
total of 34 weeks imprisonment and was also given a two year community
behaviour order.
PC Chris Nicholson, Hate Crime Officer for Rotherham said: “Any kind of
hate crime will not be tolerated and I hope that this sentence sends out
a clear message that anyone found to be committing any kind of hate
crime will be dealt with.”
