A Sheffield man is to serve almost three years in prison after being
found guilty of a vicious assault last February.
28 year old Daniel Cain, of Langsett Road North, was sentenced to two
years and eight months in prison after being found guilty of grievous
bodily harm at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday (22 March).
On the evening of 17 February 2018, Cain was a passenger in a car which
was driving through Owlerton Green in Sheffield at speed. A passer-by
called for the vehicle to slow down, to which Cain responded by getting
out of the car and punching the man in the face, breaking his jaw.
Cain was recognised by the male he punched and another witness at the
scene, he later attended a police station voluntarily to be interviewed.
Investigating Officer DC Matt Welsh welcomed the sentence: “This
incident has had a profound effect on the victim, they are still
receiving treatment for their injuries a year on. If that was not
distressing enough, Cain could not even take responsibility for his
actions and put his victim through a trial.
I am satisfied with the result and I would like to commend the victim
for their bravery following what was a horrible and violent attack.”
