Rotherham partnership working achieves closure order

Partnership working between the Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Policing
Team and Rotherham Council has seen a property on Spring Walk, Rotherham
closed for three months.

The problematic property has been closed after the local community
raised concerns about drug use and anti-social behaviour.

Officers from the Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Policing Team were
granted a closure order at Sheffield Magistrates Court last Wednesday
(27 February 2019) for the property, under the Antisocial Behaviour,
Crime and Policing Act 2014. The closure means nobody is allowed to
enter the house, except police, council officials, and the residents of
the house.

PC Steve Robson who led the investigation said: “In August 2018 concerns
were raised by the local community that a property on Spring Walk was
being used for drugs and was creating unwanted problems and anti-social
behaviour in the area.”

“Partnership working between Rotherham Council and South Yorkshire
Police (SYP) has now led to the partial closure of this property.

“This will hopefully send a message to people that are causing a
nuisance that it will not be tolerated and action will be taken against
them.

“It also reminds members of the community that if they tell us about
issues they will be dealt with to improve their quality of life and the
area they live and work in.”
