Police pulled the plug on an illegal all-night rave in a South Yorkshire
wood this weekend.

Residents in villages for miles around Langsett Woods, near Barnsley,
endured a night of disturbance until the police shut down the sound
system ravers were using at 08:00 on Sunday.

The council has now launched an investigation into the all-night event,
which was unlicensed and took place on land owned by Yorkshire Water,
with a councillor warning prosecutions could follow.

Councillor Hannah Kitching said: “This event was both illegal and
incredibly disruptive to local, and not so local, residents.

“That doesn’t mean that I, or the council, don’t ever want anyone to
have any fun, you can have a good night without keeping four villages
awake, I’m sure.”
