A Doncaster man is now serving over three years behind bars after CID
officers discovered an array of drugs, including cannabis and heroin in
his home.
Early one morning last September, officers carried out a warrant at the
home of Levi Oberg, on Schofield Street, Mexborough, after intelligence
had been gathered to suggest that there were drugs inside the property.
On arrival Oberg, 23, tried to flee the address, initially running from
officers into the back garden but he was quickly detained, as PC Mark
Roostan, the investigating officer explains.
“When we arrived at the address, Oberg tried to run from officers and
also threw a wallet over into the neighbouring garden, which was later
found to have £3,000 in.
“We then carried out a thorough search of the house, and in addition to
the cash we found quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, spice and
cannabis. A number of scales and mobile phones were also seized.”
A woman Shannon Neylan, 22, of Schofield Street Mexborough, was also
arrested inside the house. The pair were later charged in relation to
drugs offences and appeared before Sheffield Crown Court for sentencing
on Friday 26 October. They both entered guilty pleas to possession with
intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of drugs at an
earlier hearing.
Oberg was jailed for three years and four months while Neylan received a
12-month community order and a rehabilitation requirement.
PC Roostan added: “Tackling the supply and distribution of drugs across
Doncaster and in Mexborough in particular is a priority for our CID
teams.
“We are regularly carrying out warrants and other proactive operations
to disrupt such criminality in order to make the area a better and much
safer place to live.
“If you ever have concerns about drugs, or other criminality, in your
area, please speak to us either while we’re out on patrol, via 101 or
through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
PC Chris Nicholson, Hate Crime Officer for Rotherham said: “Any kind of
hate crime will not be tolerated and I hope that this sentence sends out
a clear message that anyone found to be committing any kind of hate
crime will be dealt with.”
