A 25-year-old man is starting a six-year prison sentence after being
found guilty of serious wounding with intent at Sheffield Crown Court
today (Friday 1 March).

Ricky Pyewell, of Boynton Road West, pleaded not guilty to the offence
and was handed a six-year sentence alongside a restraining order to
protect his victim.

The court heard that on 22 September 2018, Pyewell entered an address on
Boynton Road West and stabbed his victim multiple times in the back with
a knife. Pyewell was apprehended by police on 25 September 2018.

DCI Philip Etheridge said: “Pyewell inflicted a serious attack on his
victim, causing multiple puncture wounds, one of which pierced the
victim’s lung.

“Today’s sentencing sends a message across South Yorkshire that this
behaviour will not be tolerated, and the consequences of knife crime
will be high. His victim, and the local community, can be assured that
we will always use the full force of the law to punish individuals who
commit these crimes.”
