Armed robbery at South Anston Post Office

A gang of armed robbers made off with cash after holding up the Post
Office in South Anston with a suspected handgun.

Police were called to the Post Office at 4.24pm on Sunday to reports of
an armed robbery – and arrested one suspect at the scene.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said two suspects are believed
to have entered the premises before demanding money with what has been
described as a handgun,

They made off with a small amount of cash, she added.

A 32-year-old man, who was detained at the scene, has been arrested on
suspicion of robbery, and remained in police custody today.

Police said they were still searching for the second suspect and a third
individual who was waiting in a vehicle outside the store.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police
on 101 quoting incident number 646 of October 14 or contact
Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Last Monday, a knife-wielding robber threatened staff at a charity shop
in Dinnington. Police released an e-fit today of a man they want to
speak to in connection with the incident.
