Witnesses sought to Sheffield sexual assault

Detectives investigating the reported sexual assault of a woman in the
Wicker area of Sheffield last week have released an urgent appeal for
witnesses.

At around 5.20pm on Tuesday 12 March, it is reported that a 20-year-old
woman was walking from the Wicker across the footbridge towards Sussex
Street. The bridge is commonly known as ‘Cobweb Bridge’.

It is understood that an unknown man approached the woman, sexually
assaulting her before two passers-by intervened and the woman was able
to run away.

Officers are keen to locate the two passers-by who stopped to help the
woman, as well as hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything
suspicious.
