After a year in the making Rotherham Council opens its new tennis and
basketball courts at Clifton Park.

The new facilities at Clifton Park, which include three tennis courts
and a brand new basketball court, were opened at 10.30am on Saturday 6
April by Councillor Sarah Allen, cabinet member for Cleaner, Greener
Communities.

The launch event will be attended by local sports groups including
Moorgate Tennis Club and the Rotherham Hawkes Basketball club.

Councillor Allen said, “Clifton Park is a brilliant asset to our town
and these new sports facilities are a welcome addition to what the park
already has to offer.

“The new courts will increase opportunities for people to play more
sport and in a safe environment.”

The new courts have been built on the site of one of the old bowling
greens, which had not been used for a number of years. As well as the
new sports courts, Clifton Park has recently upgraded its car parking
facilities in anticipation of a higher number of visitors over the
coming years.

Further information about Clifton Park and the new facilities, including
details on how to book a court, can be found on the Clifton Park sports
website or by calling Parks Tennis.
