Barnsley Bright Nights will run over four days this November

Barnsley will spectacularly light up for Christmas when a world-class
digital projection beams onto the iconic town hall for a four-day
festive event.

From Wednesday 28 November to Saturday 1 December, the first Barnsley
Bright Nights festive extravaganza will launch in the town centre and
officially kick start Barnsley’s countdown to Christmas like never
before.

The event will transform the town centre into a winter wonderland. There
will be the traditional fireworks and family entertainment – but it’s
around the town hall where the action will be most magical.

A spectacular Christmas digital projection using state-of-the-art
technology will transform our iconic landmark into a festive-themed
show.

Running each night of the event, the light projection will capture your
imagination and help spread the Christmas spirit across the town.

It will be created by world-class projection company Anomic Multimedia –
famous for its projection work on the Tower of London for the unveiling
of the Swept Lands and Seas of Red First World War memorial.

Dan Shorten of Anomic Multimedia said: “Anomic is thrilled to have been
selected to provide the projection display for this year’s Christmas
Lights celebrations in Barnsley.

“It is clearly an exciting time in Barnsley with the redevelopment of
the town centre and markets, and to be able to help celebrate this
transformation with a projection artwork that will highlight both the
strong history of the town but also the positive future is a real honour
for us.

“We are looking forward to generating some strong, dynamic and vibrant
visuals that can illuminate the town hall building and show it in a
fresh and exciting way. We aim to combine animations and motion graphics
that will transform the building into a range of exciting new images
right in front of the audience’s eyes.

“The town hall in Barnsley is such a striking building; the facade is
both elegant and dramatic and will lend itself very well to projections.
We feel extremely lucky to be involved in this project and can’t wait to
light up the town hall for the people of Barnsley and its visitors.”

As well as the incredible light projection at the town hall, there will
be a Christmas market, fantastic family entertainment, a range of food
and drink stalls, choir singers, a big wheel and a family fun fair.

Spark! LED drummers will also return to Barnsley after their performance
at the Tour de Yorkshire earlier this year.
