Man charged with murder following Hillsborough stabbing

A 24-year-old man, originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder,
following the stabbing of Gavin Singleton in Hillsborough, has now been
charged with murder.

Gavin Singleton, 31, was injured on Walkley Lane at around 12.20am on
Sunday 23 September. He was taken to hospital but sadly died on Saturday
6 October.

A post-mortem examination concluded that he died as a result of a stab
wound to the chest.

A 29-year-old man was also injured during the incident, suffering a
single stab wound. He was taken to hospital for treatment but released
shortly afterwards.

Danny Trotter, 24, of no fixed address, was previously charged with
attempted murder in connection to the incident. He has now been charged
with murder in connection to Mr Singleton’s death.

Trotter is also charged with section 18 wounding, the supply of
controlled drugs and possession of an offensive weapon and remains
remanded in custody.

Mr Singleton’s family and friends have asked that their privacy is
continued to be respected.
