To celebrate the release of their new course guide for 2017/18 Barnsley’s Adult Skills and Community Learning service will be holding two open days for new learners next week.
Everyone is welcome to come along and sign up to learn a new language or hobby or improve skills such as English, maths or IT.
The day will provide the chance to look around, meet tutors and ask questions about the courses on offer, while current learners will be on hand to talk about what it’s like to study at Wellington House.
Information about the support on offer to attend courses from bursaries and financial assistance to help with childcare and travel costs will also be available.
The open days will take place at Wellington House, Floor 2, above the library on Market Street:
Wednesday 6 September, 11am to 7pm
Saturday 9 September, 9.30am to 12.30pm
Councillor Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “The council is working hard to help everyone achieve their potential.
“It’s never too late to learn, so if you’re looking for a new challenge when the children go back to school this September, why not check out the many courses on offer. Whether you want to gain skills to further your career or pursue a hobby, there is something for everyone.”
For more information on the open day and courses available visit barnsley.gov.uk/adultlearning or call 01226 775271.
