The historic village of Elsecar in South Yorkshire is opening its doors
to Flavours annual food festival this weekend, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21
October. Packed full of foodie fun, live music, family entertainment and
a spectacular firework display, the weekend is a two-day celebration for
all the senses.

For 2018 the festival has a vibrant new look which includes more live
entertainment, music and acts, all of which have been added to the
line-up. Alongside this will be a fresh new group of guest chefs to both
entertain and inspire visitors.

Offering mouth-watering delights from the region’s best local suppliers
and complemented by an array of street food and drink vendors, the
festival is a highlight in the diary for any Yorkshire foodie.

Entertainment has been expanded for 2018 and the cookery theatre is now
free to access. The Pigott Brothers from BBC2’s The Big Family Cooking
Showdown and new voice in Indian food and wellness Mira Manek will be
joining the festival for the full weekend. Special guest, 5 AA Rosette
and Michelin award winning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli will be
appearing on Saturday only to welcome visitors.

This year there will be a live music stage with an eclectic selection of
bands performing over the weekend. Street theatre artists will also be
appearing all around the site, alongside workshops for the whole family
to join in. The Saturday evening will end with a spectacular firework
display to light up Elsecar’s sky and close the first day with a bang.

Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place, said: “Flavours Food
Fest is returning bigger and better than ever before. The event has
become a real highlight in the calendar as we welcome top chefs from
across the country to Elsecar. Visitors will have a fantastic time as
they sample delicious food and see performances from great local bands.

“With an array of family-friendly entertainment sitting alongside live
music, foodie fun and free parking it promises to be a great day out for
all the family.”
